Who we are
Girls Glowing Up™ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through girlsglowingup.com and our programs. Questions can be sent to hello@girlsglowingup.org at any time.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run safe, effective programs.
- Parent/guardian information: name, email, phone, mailing city, and preferred contact method.
- Participant information: first and last name, date of birth or age, grade, school, and t-shirt size.
- Health and safety information you choose to provide: allergies, medications, accommodations, and emergency contacts.
- Program information: interests, availability, goals, applications, and progress in our curriculum.
- Donation information: name, email, amount, and message. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor — we never see or store card numbers.
- Technical information: basic device and usage data needed to keep the site working and secure.
How we use information
- To review enrollments, applications, and scholarship requests.
- To place girls in the right programs and keep them safe during sessions.
- To contact parents and guardians about schedules, changes, and emergencies.
- To issue donation receipts and comply with nonprofit reporting requirements.
- To improve programming through aggregated, de-identified analysis.
Children's privacy
Our programs serve girls ages 8–18. Accounts, enrollments, applications, and scholarship requests must be created and submitted by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided information without consent, email us and we will delete it promptly.
Photos and stories
Photos, video, and written stories featuring a participant are used only when a parent or guardian has signed a photo release. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by emailing us, and we will stop future use and remove the material from our own channels as quickly as we reasonably can.
How we share information
We never sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate (hosting, database, email, and payment processing), with mentors and staff on a need-to-know basis for participant safety, and when required by law — including mandatory reporting obligations.
Security and retention
Data is stored in access-controlled systems with row-level security so families can only see their own records. Uploaded documents are kept in private storage. We retain records for as long as a family participates plus the period required for legal, tax, and grant reporting, then delete or de-identify them.
Your choices
You may request a copy of your family's records, ask for corrections, withdraw a photo release, unsubscribe from email updates, or request deletion of information we are not legally required to keep. Email hello@girlsglowingup.org and we will respond within 30 days.
